Video Playback Software for LED Walls & Event Screens

A media player plays one file. A live event screen needs a playlist that never shows a black frame, transitions that look intentional, and a way to check the next clip before it goes live. Here's the difference in practice.

What live playback needs that VLC doesn't have

Option 1 — VLC or a general media player

Free and reliable for single-file playback, but has none of the above. Switching clips means opening files manually, transitions are a hard cut, and there is no second "preview" output to check what's coming.

Option 2 — Broadcast/worship production suites

ProPresenter and Renewed Vision PVP handle live video well, wrapped inside a much larger tool built around lyrics, live camera mixing and worship-specific workflows. If that's not your event, you're paying for and learning a system three sizes too big.

Option 3 — Second Screen Player

Second Screen Player is built specifically for event and LED wall playback:

Frequently asked questions

Can I hold on a logo between videos instead of black?

Yes — set a holding image that displays automatically between playlist items.

Does it support curved LED walls?

Yes, via cylinder scroll mode, which remaps footage to match a wraparound panel layout.

Can I mix video audio with a separate music track?

Yes — the 3-channel mixer separates video audio, an additional audio bed and the master output, each with its own level and metering.
