6. Waveform & Spectrum Analyzer

Spectrum Analyzer

The real-time spectrum analyzer displays the frequency content of the audio currently playing. The visualization updates at 60 fps and reflects the output signal after EQ processing.

Waveform Display

The waveform canvas shows a preview of the entire loaded track. A playhead line moves across it during playback. Click anywhere on the waveform to jump to that position.

Cue point markers are displayed as vertical lines on the waveform. Hover over a marker to see its timestamp.

7. 5-Band Equalizer

The 5-band parametric EQ in the right panel lets you shape the frequency response of all audio output. Each band has a vertical slider (+12 dB to -12 dB).

BandFrequencyUse
Band 160 HzSub-bass / rumble control
Band 2230 HzLow-mid / warmth
Band 3910 HzMid / presence
Band 43.6 kHzUpper mid / clarity
Band 514 kHzAir / brilliance

EQ Presets

Use the preset dropdown to quickly apply common curves:

PresetDescription

Bass BoostBoosts low frequencies for impact.
Treble BoostAdds brightness and air.
VocalScoops lows, boosts mids for voice clarity.
CustomAppears when you manually adjust any band.

EQ On / Off

Click the EQ ON button to bypass all EQ processing. The button dims when EQ is off.

Click Reset EQ to return all bands to 0 dB.

8. Master Volume & VU Meters

Master Fader

The vertical fader in the Master section controls the overall output gain. Drag the thumb up or down, or click anywhere on the fader track to set a level.

VU Meters

Two stereo VU bars show the real-time level of the left and right output channels. A peak hold indicator lights up at the highest recent level.

The dB scale on the right reads: 0, -6, -12, -24, -48.

9. Cue Points

Cue points let you mark a precise position on a track and jump back to it instantly during playback or standby.

Setting a Cue Point

  1. Seek to the desired position using the seek bar, waveform click, or nudge buttons.
  2. Click Set Cue to mark the current position.

Jumping to a Cue Point

Click Go to Cue to jump playback to the first cue point on the current track. If the track is playing, it jumps immediately. If stopped, it sets the playhead to the cue position.

Nudge Buttons

Use the nudge buttons to fine-tune the playhead position before setting a cue:

ButtonAction
-1sMove playhead back 1 second
-100msMove playhead back 100 milliseconds
+100msMove playhead forward 100 milliseconds
+1sMove playhead forward 1 second
Tip: Pause the track, use the nudge buttons to land exactly on the beat or first syllable, then click Set Cue.

Cue List

All cue points for the current track are listed below the nudge buttons with their timestamps. Click a cue in the list to jump to it.

Clearing Cue Points

Click Clear to remove all cue points from the current track.

Cue points are saved per-track within a project file.

10. Cue Pad (96 Buttons)

The Cue Pad at the bottom of the window provides 96 quick-trigger buttons across 8 pages (12 buttons per page). Each button can be assigned a specific track from your playlist for instant one-click playback.

Assigning a Track to a Cue Button

  1. Select a track in the playlist (click it to highlight it).
  2. Click the target cue button in the Cue Pad to assign the selected track to it.
  3. The button label updates to show the track name.

Triggering a Cue

Click any assigned cue button to instantly start playback of that track. If a track is already playing, clicking a different cue button switches to the new track (with crossfade if enabled).

Switching Pages

Use the page buttons 1 – 8 above the cue grid to switch between pages. Each page holds 12 cue buttons, for a total of 96 assignable slots.

Removing an Assignment

Right-click a cue button and choose Clear Slot to remove its assignment.

Tip: Organize pages by category — for example, Page 1 for intros, Page 2 for stingers, Page 3 for music beds.

11. Touch Pad Window

The Touch Pad is a separate floating window that shows the full 96-button cue pad. It can be dragged to a second monitor or a connected touch screen for hands-on cue triggering without obstructing the main interface.

Opening the Touch Pad

Click the button at the top-right corner of the Cue Pad section. A new window opens showing all 8 pages and 96 buttons.

Moving to a Second Monitor

Drag the Touch Pad window by its title bar to any screen in your display setup. The window is fully independent and can be resized.

Using with a Touch Screen

On a touch-enabled second monitor, tap cue buttons directly to trigger them. All page-switching and cue assignment indicators work the same as in the main window.

Real-Time Sync

The Touch Pad stays in sync with the main window — active track, page selection, and key assignment indicators update automatically.

12. Per-Cue Key Assignments (Stream Deck & Keyboard)

Every cue pad button can have a global keyboard shortcut assigned to it. This allows external controllers like a Stream Deck — or any device that sends keystrokes — to trigger specific cues directly.

Assigning a Key to a Cue Button

  1. Hover over a cue pad button — a small icon appears in the top-right corner of the button.
  2. Click the ⌨ icon. A recording dialog opens: "Press a key combination..."
  3. Press the desired key or key combination (e.g. F5, Ctrl+1, Numpad 1).
  4. Click Confirm to save the assignment.

The assigned key label appears on the cue button as a small badge.

Clearing a Key Assignment

Open the recording dialog for the button (click ⌨) and click Clear Key to remove the assignment.

How It Works

Assigned keys are registered as global shortcuts — they trigger the cue even when the app is minimized or in the background.

Note: Cue key assignments are not saved to app settings. They are only saved when you save a project file (Ctrl+S) and restored when you load that project. If you restart the app without loading a project, the assignments will be empty.

Stream Deck Setup

In the Stream Deck software, assign each key to a Keyboard Shortcut action with the same combination you set in Jingle CueStation. When that Stream Deck button is pressed, it sends the keystroke and the cue triggers instantly.

13. Crossfade

Crossfade automatically fades out the currently playing track and fades in the next one for smooth transitions.

Setting Crossfade Duration

Use the Crossfade dropdown in the player panel to select a duration:

OptionBehaviour
OffNo crossfade — tracks switch instantly.
1s – 10sCrossfade duration in seconds (1, 2, 3, 5, 7, or 10 seconds).

When a crossfade duration is set and Auto-play is on, the outgoing track begins fading out before it ends and the incoming track fades in simultaneously.

14. BPM Detection

Jingle CueStation automatically analyzes the tempo of each loaded track and displays the detected BPM in the Now Playing area.

BPM values are cached per track so they don't need to be recalculated after the first analysis. BPM data is also saved with project files.

15. Audio Normalization

Audio normalization automatically adjusts the playback level of each track so all jingles play at a consistent volume, regardless of how the source files were recorded.

Enabling Normalization

Click the NOR button in the transport controls to toggle normalization on or off. The button highlights when active.

Target loudness is set to -14 LUFS (similar to streaming platforms). Normalization gain is calculated on first play and cached — subsequent plays of the same track use the cached value instantly.

Tip: Enable normalization when your jingles have inconsistent recording levels (e.g. a mix of broadcast recordings and home recordings).

16. Stereo / Mono Toggle

The ◎◎ / ◉ button in the Master section toggles between stereo and mono output.

17. Hotkey Assignments

The Settings panel () includes a Hotkey Assignments section where you can bind keyboard shortcuts to trigger specific jingles from anywhere on your system.

Adding a Hotkey

  1. Open Settings (⚙ button or Ctrl+,).
  2. Click + Add Hotkey.
  3. Click the key field and press your desired combination.
  4. Select the target jingle from the dropdown.
  5. Click Save Settings.
Note: Hotkey Assignments (in Settings) are for triggering specific jingles by name. Per-cue key assignments (the ⌨ icon on each cue button) are for triggering cue pad slots by position. Both work globally.

18. Themes (Blue & Grey)

Jingle CueStation includes two visual themes:

ThemeDescription
BlueDefault dark theme with blue accent highlights — suitable for dim environments.
GreyAlternative theme with grey/neutral tones — preferred by some operators in brighter settings.

Click the button in the header to switch between themes. The selected theme is saved automatically and restored on next launch.

19. Save & Load Projects

A Project File (.jpl) saves your complete session: playlist, cue points, cue pad assignments, per-cue key bindings, EQ settings, volume, crossfade, normalization state, BPM cache, and current theme.

Saving a Project

Click Save in the header or press Ctrl+S. A Save dialog opens — choose a location and filename. The file is saved as MySession.jpl.

Loading a Project

Click Load in the header or press Ctrl+L. Browse to a .jpl file and open it. All session state is restored.

Tip: Save separate project files for different events or shows — e.g. Conference-Morning.jpl, Conference-Afternoon.jpl.
Note: Audio files are referenced by their file path. If you move audio files to a different location after saving, the project will not be able to load them. Keep audio files in a stable folder alongside your .jpl projects.
