Complete guide to CueCaller v1.0.0
CueCaller is a professional live show calling application for Windows. It is designed for the person running a show — the show caller, floor manager, or technical director — who needs to manage a running order, keep events on time, and keep all screens and crew in sync from one focused interface.
CueCaller is built around three core ideas:
The application is organized into three tabs:
| Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Rundown | The full event list with all controls for building, editing, and running the show. |
| Viewers | Internet viewer URLs, copy buttons, and HDMI output window controls. |
| Messages | Broadcast text messages to connected viewers — useful for crew cues and alerts. |
Program Files\CueCongress\CueCaller by default.Click the CueCongress logo in the top-right corner to open the About dialog, then click Deactivate this device. This frees the license slot so you can activate on a different machine.
| Element | Function |
|---|---|
| CueCaller logo (left) | App icon — decorative. |
| Show Name | Editable text field — type your show name. Displayed in viewer URLs and saved with the show file. |
| ON AIR indicator | Pulses red when an event is actively running. Dark when the show is stopped. |
| Clock | Live wall clock — shows the current time of day at all times. |
| Save | Save the current show to a .cueshow file. |
| Load | Open a previously saved .cueshow file. |
| ⋮ Menu | Dropdown with Viewer URLs and Reset Show options. |
| CueCongress logo (right) | Click to open the About dialog — version, license key, update check, and deactivation. |
The show strip runs across the full width below the header and is always visible. It is the primary control area during a live show.
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| NOW | Name of the currently active event. |
| Timer Display | Large countdown timer for the current event. Shows elapsed time (amber) if no duration is set. |
| RUNNING | Running delta — how far ahead or behind schedule the show is across all completed events. |
| NEXT | Name and scheduled time of the next upcoming event. |
| Progress bar | Visual progress of the current event timer. |
| ◀ BACK | Reset current event and restart the previous one with a fresh timer. |
| ▶ GO / NEXT | Start the next event. Also triggered by Space. |
| ■ STOP | Pause the running timer. |
| −1m / −30s / +30s / +1m | Adjust the timer while it is running or paused. |
| ↺ Reset | Stop the timer and return it to the event's set duration. |
Click Rundown, Viewers, or Messages to switch between the three content panels. The Viewers tab shows a count badge when viewer URLs are loaded. The Messages tab shows a dot when there is an active broadcast message.
The Rundown tab is where you build and manage your show order. Each row is one event. Rows are displayed in running order — the topmost upcoming event is next to be called.
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| Light Mode / Dark Mode | Toggle the rundown table between a light background (for bright rooms) and the default dark theme. |
| Lock | Lock the rundown to prevent accidental edits or row reordering during a live show. |

| Export as Teleprompter… | Open the Teleprompter Export dialog — choose fields and save a .txt file for any teleprompter software. |
| + Add Event | Add a new blank event row at the bottom of the rundown. |
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| # | Row order number — auto-assigned. |
| Type | Event type (Speech, Panel, VT, Break, etc.). Shown as a colour-coded badge. |
| Event Name | The name of the event — shown in the NOW and NEXT labels during the show. |
| Presenter | The name of the person presenting or performing. |
| Duration | Planned duration in MM:SS format. Used to set the countdown timer when GO is pressed. |
| Status | Current state: upcoming, active (running), done, or skipped. |
Drag any row by its handle (⠿ icon on the left side) to reorder it. Reordering is disabled when the rundown is locked.
Below the event list there is a Quick Message bar. Type a message and click Send to broadcast it to all connected viewer channels simultaneously. This is the fastest way to push a message without switching to the Messages tab.
Click any event row to open the editor modal. Make changes and click Save. Changes apply immediately — even if the event is currently active.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Event Name | The name shown in the NOW label, viewer screens, and rundown table. |
| Type | Category of the event — choose from the dropdown (Speech, Panel, VT, Break, Performance, Interview, Opening, Closing, Awards, Q&A, Rehearsal) or type a custom type. |
| Presenter | The name of the speaker or performer. Shown on viewer screens. |
| Duration | Planned running time. Enter minutes only (e.g. 10) or MM:SS (e.g. 7:30). Leave blank for events with no fixed time — the timer will count up instead of down. |
| Notes | Internal notes for the show caller — not shown on viewer screens. |
Open the event editor modal and click Delete (bottom-left of the modal). Deletion is immediate — there is no undo, so confirm before deleting during a live show.
The GO button is the primary show control. Each press advances the show by one step:
Keyboard shortcut: Space
BACK reverses the last GO action. It is designed for live use — no confirmation dialog, instant action.
STOP pauses the running timer. The current event remains active. Press GO again to resume the timer, or use the timer adjust buttons to correct the time before resuming.
Reset stops the timer and returns it to the event's set duration (or 0:00 if no duration). The event stays active. Use this to restart a timer from the top without advancing the show.
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| −1m | Subtract 60 seconds from the remaining time. |
| −30s | Subtract 30 seconds from the remaining time. |
| +30s | Add 30 seconds to the remaining time. |
| +1m | Add 60 seconds to the remaining time. |
Adjustments work whether the timer is running or paused, and update all connected viewers instantly.
| Mode | When | Display |
|---|---|---|
| Countdown | Event has a set duration | Counts down from the set duration to 0:00, then continues into overtime (negative time in red). |
| Count-up (elapsed) | Event has no duration set | Counts up from 0:00 in amber — shows how long the event has been running. |
| Stopped | No active event or timer paused | Shows --:-- or the last stopped value. |
| Color | State |
|---|---|
| Green | Countdown — more than 2 minutes remaining. |
| Orange | Countdown — between 1 and 2 minutes remaining. |
| Red | Countdown — under 1 minute remaining, or overtime (past zero). Pulses when running. |
| Amber | Count-up — event has no set duration, showing elapsed time. |
The thin bar below the show strip fills from left to right as the event timer runs. At 100% the event duration is consumed. The bar continues to fill past 100% in red during overtime.
The timer pushes its state to all connected internet viewers every second while running. Viewers use the server-provided timestamp to display an accurate countdown with no drift — regardless of where in the world they are.
The Viewers tab is the central place for all viewer channel URLs and HDMI output controls.
